INT. FEAR SHIP - DARK HALLWAY
The SWAT Kats are in a darkened hallway underneath the antechamber floor. In the dim light provided by the hole above them, they find Stalker #5 - the Stalker T-Bone knocked down here earlier - lying sprawled on its back on the floor. T-Bone gently nudges it with his foot. It shifts and rolls over with a growl, but doesn't get up.
He breathes a sigh of relief as he flips on the triangular light on his helmet, illuminating the dark utility tunnel. There are lights affixed to the stone walls, but they're not turned on. Beside him, Razor tries to active his own helmet light, but it fizzles out due to the damage the helmet sustained. He frowns and removes it.
Okay, Sureshot, what's this big plan of yours?
Razor inspects the cracked helmet for a little longer before tossing it aside. With some effort, he also removes his crushed Glovatrix.
Crud, this thing's had it.
He throws it down angrily.
Relax. Mine's still workin'.
He flexes his arm to show his own still intact Glovatrix.
So, I repeat, what's the plan?
We find a way to bring this thing down. Then we get back and rescue Felina.
Hopefully not in that order. I can't say I like the idea of tryin' to rescue the Lieutenant while Dark Kat's ship is in the middle of crashin'.
He starts off down the tunnel. Razor follows his lead.
Of course. I think out of order sometimes, is all.
Don't I know it!
INT. FEAR SHIP - GEOTHERMAL POWER CHAMBER
The tunnel opens out onto a gothic stone catwalk moving over several huge cauldron-like vats of what at first appear to be molten metal. The heat coming off of is tremendous. Immediately upon entering, both SWAT Kats begin to sweat. Each cauldron is fed by a stone trough of sorts, and has numerous segmented tubes running off of its side and into large stainless steel tanks polished to a mirror finish. Light is provided by the glowing contents of the cauldrons, casting the entire room in a reddish-orange glow. T-Bone flicks off his headlamp.
A single Creepling wearing a small hardhat stands on the bridge ahead of them, its back to them. T-Bone rushes it, seizing the little pink monster up and flinging it over the stone railing. Its momentum prevents it from taking flight and it splashes into the superheated liquid beneath. Leaning over to watch it splash down, T-Bone blinks.
What is this stuff? Liquid metal? Is Dark Kat runnin' some kinda smelting factory?
Razor joins him.
No, this isn't molten metal, it's lava!
He rushes along the bridge, finds a set of steps, and climbs down them. T-Bone follows.
Lava? What in the heck is he doing with lava on board his ship?
Razor doesn't answer just yet. He approaches a nearby computer terminal and turns it on, snorting derisively at the "D" insignia desktop background. T-Bone is becoming anxious. He keeps glancing back up at the stone catwalk, and the tunnel they'd emerged from. Despite his unease, he dutifully stands guard while his partner types away feverishly, accessing various subdirectories and examining various files.
INT. FEAR SHIP - ANTECHAMBER
Stalker #6 growls and struggles against the dried cement holding it to the statue, muscles flexing and bulging. Finally, it succeeds in freeing itself, shattering the cement and leaping down with a fierce roar. The other two surviving Stalkers - Stalker #7 and Stalker #8 - get up, and all three head over to the hole in the floor and look down into it.
INT. FEAR SHIP - DARK HALLWAY
Stalker #5 has woken up. It unsteadily gets to its feet. To either side of it, Stalkers #6, #7 and #8 jump down and land. They look at one another, and then turn and trudge off down the corridor.
INT. FEAR SHIP - GEOTHERMAL POWER CHAMBER
T-Bone wanders around. He finds an elevator on the opposite side of the huge chamber. Eventually, Razor finds the information he's looking for and summons T-Bone back over.
Whoa, Dark Kat's using geothermal power to run this thing!
How's he keep it from overheatin' and melting down his entire ship?
Easy. See those tanks?
He points at the silver tanks connected to the lava cauldrons by tubing.
Those are filled with a coolant to keep the magma at a specific temperature. Otherwise, it'd melt through the containers and burn this whole place up.
Okay, so, what say we yank a few wires and turn the coolant feed off?
Razor suddenly looks panicked.
Are you nuts? This ship is a gigantic time bomb just waiting to explode already without our help! If we cut the coolant feed, then when this baby goes, it'll rain molten lava all over Megakat City!
T-Bone's smirk disappears.
We need to see about getting the Fear Ship away from the city before we do any sabotaging.
Well, at least have the beginnings of a plan.
Right. Now how about finding an alternate way to get back up and get the Lieutenant..
He turns to type on the keyboard again but T-Bone halts him.
Shockingly, we don't need the computer for that. There's an elevator over--
Suddenly, they hear growling. The four surviving Stalkers come charging out of the tunnel and onto the bridge above them.
Run and get in the elevator!
Razor rushes over and hits the call button. T-Bone kneels and takes aim with his Glovatrix. He fires a Mini Bola, which wraps itself around the ankles of Stalker #5. It pitches forward mid-run and lands on its face. Stalker #8 trips over it and likewise falls. Stalkers #6 and #7 leap over their fallen companions and continue charging. T-Bone fires again, but misses.
He checks his Glovatrix's weapons inventory. He has just two ordinary explosive missiles left.
What I wouldn't give for a reload!
Stalker #6 does a flying leap off the bridge to land standing in front of him. T-Bone stumbles back and the Stalker's feet leave cracked imprints in the stone floor.
Growling, T-Bone aimes and fires the first of his only two remaining missiles. Stalker #6 is hit dead center and violently explodes, its slimy green guts splattering all over the thoroughly startled SWAT Kat.
Stalker #7 jumps down next. It thuds to the floor a few away from him. On the bridge, Stalker #8 is getting up. Stalker #5 flexes its muscles and snaps the bola. T-Bone slips and loses his footing in the slime. Sitting up, he takes aim at Stalker #7 as it stomps over towards him. Seeing his weapon, it hesitates. Gritting his teeth, he fires. The Stalker leaps aside and the missile hits and explodes the nearest of the vats.
T-Bone's eyes widen as the side of the huge cauldron-like container blows open, spewing hot lava forth in a geyser. Alarms begin to sound.
INT. FEAR SHIP - ALCHEMY LABORATORY
There are more Stalkers currently being grown in more growth chambers. Felina is putting up quite a magnificent fight against the mind-draining machine, moaning. Dark Kat stands over her with his arms crossed, observing her struggle. Suddenly a muffled but powerful explosion rocks the entire ship.
What in the world...?!
INT. FEAR SHIP - CONTROL ROOM
Creeplings are thrown around like rag dolls as the floor quakes. Zeckis yelps and staggers. Alarms blare, lights flashing on and off urgently.
INT. FEAR SHIP - GEOTHERMAL POWER CHAMBER
The bridge shudders, pitching Stalker #5 over the railing. It falls down into one of the lava vats and lands with a splash. T-Bone watches as the lava hits Stalker #7, which gives a mournful howl of agony as it is set afire and sinks slowly to its hot death in the magma flow. T-Bone shudders.
Standing, he is able to avoid slipping in the slime, and hurriedly hopskotches over to the elevator where Razor waits, holding the elevator doors open for him. They both get in and the doors slide shut just as Stalker #8 hops down from the bridge on the side opposite the spreading lake of lava.
INT. FEAR SHIP - ELEVATOR
Razor leans his elbow against the wall.
Hey, it was an accident! Besides, you're the Sureshot, not me!
He presses a button. Nothing happens.
Great. Busted. Here, give me a boost.
T-Bone helps him up so he can open the emergency access hatch on the roof. Once he's up he offers his hand down to T-Bone. Just then, something starts banging violently against the closed doors. T-Bone grabs Razor's hand and is yanked upwards. He's climbing through the hatch when clawed fingers force their way between the seams of the closed doors, and then Stalker #8 grunts and forces the doors apart.
INT. FEAR SHIP - ELEVATOR SHAFT
T-Bone slams the hatch shut. He and Razor stand on top of the elevator.
That's not gonna hold 'im!
I got a way to take this guy out.
He flips up his Glovatrix's blowtorch mechanism.
Hold tight to me.
Razor throws his arms around T-Bone's waist as his partner activates the torch. Grabbing the elevator cable with one hand, he touches the flame to it just as the hatches flies open and the Stalker pokes its head up.
Going down, ugly?
The cable snaps with a loud twanging noise and the elevator car, with its Stalker occupant, drops down the darkened shaft, leaving T-Bone hanging by the severed cable one-handed and Razor clinging to his waist. Hurriedly, T-Bone grabs the cable with his other hand. Razor climbs up ahead of him so he isn't weighing his partner down, and the two begin their ascent.
Nowhere to go but up!
INT. FEAR SHIP - ALCHEMY LABORATORY
The alarms have stopped. Zeckis comes running down the stairs, waving his arms frantically.
Dark Kat! There was an explosion in the ship's geothermal power chamber!
I'm well of that already.
He seethes with rage.
Unbelievable! Megakat City is all but mine and yet these two idiotic grease monkeys in masks continue to inconvenience me!
He tries the viewscreen, but it just fizzles uselessly. He punches it and it shatters. A quick look at the laboratory's computer terminal shows critical power failings and lava overflow on the decks below them. He flips switches and pushes buttons.
I'm activating the power chamber's containment measures to prevent the lava from reaching any other sections of the ship.
Are we otherwise stable...?
Yes, master. But I don't know for how long.
Long enough for me to pay back those wretched SWAT Kats tenfold for the trouble they've caused me!
Whirling, he turns to Felina and deactivates the memory machine.
I'm afraid we must postpone our little session for the time being, Lieutenant. I'm having to reroute the power needed for the memory-drain to other, more important systems.
Rats... and here I was having the time of my life...
He punches a random control panel. Felina sighs with relief and visibly relaxes. Dark Kat sneers at her.
Don't get too cocky, Lieutenant! Once I'm done killing the SWAT Kats and repairing the damage they've wrought, I'll be back to finish sucking your pretty little mind dry!
(regaining her old fire)
I look forward to seeing you try! And to ripping out your eyes!
She strains at her bonds. Dark Kat chuckles and turns to Zeckis.
Watch her. Your performance lately has been... unsatisfactory. If she escapes, it will be on your head, and I promise I'll do worse than kill you!
Dark Kat goes to a different control panel. The fluid begins draining from the tanks containing the latest batch of Stalkers.
INT. FEAR SHIP - UPPER DECK
T-Bone pries open the elevator doors, grunting and straining. With help from Razor, he manages to pry open the doors. However, they won't stay opened. Grumbling, T-Bone lays somewhat on his side, using his own body to prop them open, right shoulder against one door and left foot to the floor.
Okay, buddy, climb on up.
Razor clambers over his partner as quickly and as gently as he can. He then turns to assist T-Bone since there is no longer any need for the bigger vigilante to keep holding the doors open. He tugs at T-Bone's g-harness, and, pushing himself off the door with his other foot, T-Bone is able to get out of the way and without him blocking them, the doors clang shut. Both SWAT Kats collapse on the floor with relief and realize they're in an unfamiliar hallway.
Where are we...?
A few floors above where we should be. We need to be back down on the control room level and find Lieutenant Feral and Dark Kat.
Not to mention figurin' out a way to bring this thing down without crashin' it into any buildings.
If we even make it out of here alive.
Hey, let's keep the doomsaying to a minimum, shall we?
Come on, let's get a move on!
He slaps T-Bone's shoulder and runs off. T-Bone lingers a moment longer to examine the state of his suit; pants leg shredded and overall stained in the green blood and guts of the Stalker he'd exploded in the lava room down below. Another outfit ruined. He sighs and then runs after Razor.
EXT. ENFORCER HEADQUARTERS
Callie's car drives up to a barricade manned by two ARMY SOLDIERS. They're in green uniforms similar to those worn by the Enforcers but for their color. They're also wearing berets instead of helmets, with goggles hiding their eyes.
The car slides to a stop and Callie and District Attorney Mills get out. Callie looks confused.
What's going here...?
Nobody is allowed past this point by order of Captain Pomeroy.
She looks past them. There is a canvas-topped troop truck and an olive-green staff car sitting parked in front of the building. A helicopter is in the middle of the street, surrounded by soldiers dressed identically to the two manning the blockade. All of the vehicles have a stylized "K" symbol on them.
I'm Calico Briggs, Deputy Mayor!
I don't care who you are, ma'am. I have my orders.
Let her through, Private!
The soldiers turn as the Sergeant comes up. They snap to attention robotically and salute.
Sir! Captain Pomeroy said--
I'll deal with the Captain. Just let them through.
(when the soldiers hesitate)
The soldier looks uncertain, but finally waves them through with a grumble. Callie smiles gratefully at the Sergeant.
What in the world is going on? Why are the Army here?
You'd better come and see, Ms. Briggs...
INT. ENFORCER HEADQUARTERS - CENTRAL OPERATIONS ROOM
The Enforcer technicians stand to one side looking a bit uncertain. Olive-uniformed ARMY TECHNICIANS are sitting at their stations. Armed Army soldiers stand at the door. Feral stands in the middle of the room talking to GENERAL FINLAY BOGGS and CAPTAIN POMEROY.
Boggs is a shortish, very thin middle-aged officer. He carries a bamboo swagger stick. Gray hair peeks out from under his cap. He has high cheekbones, a narrow face and pencil-thin mustache. Taller and younger than him is Pomeroy, who has a broad build and handsome face but a cold stare.
I assure you this is all quite unnecessary.
(frowns a little)
The Governor thought it prudent to let the Army handle this little problem.
(lets that sink in)
Since you and your Enforcers seem incapable of handling it on your own.
I'll have you know that my niece--
(angrily cutting him off)
(cutting him off in turn)
...and the SWAT Kats are aboard Dark Kat's ship as we speak.
The General blinks and scowls.
Captain Pomeroy leans in.
They're a couple of vigilante fighter jocks, sir.
(looks at Feral)
Recently revealed to be formerly of this man's command.
Feral returns the Captain's icy glare.
Oh, I see. So not just vigilante scum, but also Enforcer washouts. How... reassuring.
Well, the Governor doesn't share your confidence in these "SWAT Kats!"
Confidence? I don't even like--
Be that as it may, your failure to contain this situation is worrying the Governor. He's chewed his claws down to nubs he's so nervous! So he has asked my men to intervene on Megakat City's behalf and do your job for you, Commander.
What's happening here?
Callie walks into the room with the Sergeant.
Ah, there you are, Ms. Briggs. This is General Boggs. He's been given overall command of this operation. He's here with full authority from the Governor.
General Boggs gives Callie a curt nod in greeting.
I suggest you inform the Mayor at once. We've been trying to reach him, but he seems to have better things to do than answer his phone.
Manx isn't the mayor anymore.
That surprises them.
She puts her hands on her hips.
He pretty much resigned about ten minutes ago. The last time I saw him, he and his precious golf bag were running off into the horizon.
Boggs and Captain Pomeroy exchange glances.
And that makes you...?
Acting Mayor. Until Manx comes back, anyway.
Now, fill me in on exactly what it is you're planning on doing that Commander Feral and the SWAT Kats haven't already.
Boggs suddenly doesn't look so confident anymore.
I will attempt to contact Dark Kat and elicit a surrender and the safe return of Lieutenant Feral. If negotiations fail, then we will engage and destroy.
Not while there's a chance the SWAT Kats are still aboard and alive! And if they're still alive, then so is Lieutenant Feral! I won't take that risk!
Back off, Briggs!
Feral steps forward angrily.
No, she's right. You have to give the SWAT Kats a chance! For my niece's sake!
Boggs frowns. He rocks back and forth on his heels angrily and then points at Feral with his swagger stick.
They have two hours! Out of courtesy to the... new mayor, if nothing else. Then I'm moving ahead!
(turns and glares at Callie)
With or without her permission.
(turns back to Feral)
Feral seems to mull it over.
Callie gawps in shock. Nodding, Boggs turns and stomps off, Pomeroy at his back. Callie turns and glares at Feral.
Relax, Ms. Briggs. Despite my reputation, I'm not entirely without confidence in the SWAT Kats. I'm quite certain that two hours is all those two hotshots will need to bring Dark Kat and his flying nightmare down.
Callie sighs and nods.
I hope this doesn't seem too redundant of me. This was begun as a minor little experiment to see what my ongoing story would look like as a script for the show. Instead it just grew wildly out of proportion and became its own ongoing story! It's got the exact same plot as the regular version but with a new beginning and some different scenes, additions and a few deletions.
